Annette Crisanti, Ph.D.

Dr. Annette Crisanti, Ph.D., is an Epidemiologist with a specialization in Psychiatric Epidemiology. Joining the faculty in the Fall of 2001, Dr. Crisanti is in a joint appointment with the Mental Health Services Research Evaluation and Training Program, University of Hawai‘i and the Adult Mental Health Division, Hawai‘i State Department of Health. Dr. Crisanti is also the Coordinator of the Hawai‘i Center for Evidence-Based Practice, which was established in 2003 to encourage wider use of evidence-based practices, for residents aged 18 and above, in Hawai‘i’s public mental health system. The focus of Dr. Crisanti’s research is on individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Her research and evaluations focus on populations in the mental health and criminal justice systems and programs that serve such groups (e.g., Jail Diversion Programs, Assertive Community Treatment Programs). Dr. Crisanti completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Community Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Calgary. During her Ph.D. Program, Dr. Crisanti worked at a World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Research and Training In Mental Health. Research interests include forensic psychiatry, civil commitment, the relationship between violence and mental disorder, and outcomes, specifically, mortality, rehospitalization, and recidivism.
